Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you provide in person or virtual appointments?

I provide both in-person and virtual appointments that are conducted through a HIPAA compliant virtual platform.

2. Do you take insurance?

I am a participating provider with the following Blue Card (BCBS) plans: Highmark, Anthem, Capital, Empire, Federal, Horizon, and out of state Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.  Note: I am not in network with Independence Blue Cross, Personal Choice, or Keystone Health Plan East plans.  Please contact your insurance carrier to determine your benefits for mental health services prior to scheduling an appointment.

*If you would like to use your insurance, but I am not a participating provider with your insurance plan, you can contact your carrier to determine if you have out of network mental health benefits to receive reimbursement for a portion of the costs.  While the reimbursement rate may vary depending on your plan, many clients find that using their out-of-network benefits allows them to receive the care they need. I recommend contacting your insurance provider beforehand to understand your out-of-network benefits, including deductibles and reimbursement rates, so that you can plan accordingly.  If you choose to use your out of network benefits, you will have to pay the full out of pocket fee up front; however, I will provide you with a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company to facilitate reimbursement.

3. What can I expect at my first therapy appointment?

At your first session, we will discuss what is bringing you in, your personal, relational, and mental health history, as well as relevant background information. We will take the time we need to get a full picture in order to determine together what the best plan is to help lead you towards healing and growth. This process sometimes takes more than one session because we approach this snapshot of your life with care.

4. What can I expect from therapy and how long will it take?

Therapy is a collaborative process in which we will explore the roots of struggles that you may be facing. We will work to process and heal while building skills along the way. There is no predetermined time frame for therapy as it is an individualized process. However, there will be goals that we set together that will help us to measure progress. Together, we will explore your specific needs and concerns and use interventions to best support your journey at your own pace.
